About

Overview

The New Terminal One at John F. Kennedy International Airport is a major infrastructure project designed to deliver a world-class international terminal and support the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s $19 billion transformation of JFK Airport into a modern global gateway.

  • 2.6 million Square feet: the largest terminal at JFK Airport
  • 23 Gates anchoring JFK Airport’s south side
  • 23 million Passengers a year of projected capacity
  • $19 billion Port Authority transformation of JFK Airport

Once complete, the New Terminal One will be the largest terminal at JFK Airport, spanning 2.6 million square feet, nearly the size of LaGuardia Airport’s two new terminals combined. The terminal is expected to achieve a Top 5 Skytrax ranking for design and service excellence. The New Terminal One is being built in two phases on the sites of the current Terminal 1, former Terminals 2 and 3, and the former Green Garage. Phase A includes the arrivals and departures halls and 14 new gates. At completion, the New Terminal One will have 23 gates anchoring JFK Airport’s south side and is projected to have a capacity of 23 million passengers annually.

The project is delivered as a public-private partnership with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (Port Authority) and led by a consortium of labor, operating, and financial partners, including Ferrovial, JLC Infrastructure, Ullico, and Carlyle. Under a long-term lease with the Port Authority, we will design, finance, build, operate, and maintain the terminal. Built by union labor, we are committed to inclusive economic development, with a strong focus on local hiring, workforce development, and supplier diversity to help generate long-term benefits for the surrounding communities. Once operational, the New Terminal One at JFK will serve as a premier international hub offering a modern, efficient, and inclusive travel experience for guests from around the world.
